Wildlife and Livestock Management in TS

Wildlife and Livestock Management in Tropics (WLM) is a two-year M.Sc. programme taught in English. The study programme provides higher education in a combination of animal production and the sustainable use of wildlife and livestock in accordance with the principles of species and habitat conservation. The students gain profound knowledge in a field of nature and animal conservation as well as in the breeding and utilization of animals while respecting their environment, biology, ecology and behaviour. Students develop their practical skills in breeding management, population genetics, animal capture and care, disease prevention, meat production and processing, as well as in ecotourism.

Practical training and field work are essential components of the programme. The Faculty provides many opportunities to gain hands-on experience and practical skills through its projects around the world. Masters' theses are either elaborated in our labs and in our unique eland breeding farm, or produced in cooperation with local or foreign institutions in the tropics, such as specialized labs, farms, and zoos. The graduates are ready for professional work in sustainable agriculture, the management of protected areas and for work in facilities focused on the production and conservation breeding of both domesticated and wild animals such as in zoos, wildlife parks and game ranches. Students graduate with the title „Inženýr“ - Ing. (an M.Sc. equivalent).
