Admission procedures

The study programs “Agricultural Specialization” offers two branches to study:

  • Agriculture in Tropics and Subtropics
  • Sustainable Rural Development

PhD course can be studied in full time form and combined form. Full-time study is a major form of doctoral studies. Students have the status of full-time college students and for the study are monthly paid the doctoral scholarship according to Scholarship Rules for PhD Course Students. They realise their research and studies as well as participate at teaching activities (mainly practical lessons for students), filed trips and other tasks for department. Combined form of study is on the other hand intended primarily for candidates from practice or from the ranks of the faculty, while they remain in the employment of their employers.

The term of admission procedure for the PhD course is announcing by the dean of faculty. The application form should be filled usually during May. The studies starts during the first week of October.

The admission procedure consists in a scientific disputation which will allow assessing the candidate’s abilities of independent scientific and research work and the knowledge of the study area, also based on the applicant’s documents of his/her own creative work (graduation thesis, publications). During the admission procedure the applicant will prove his/her corresponding skills in two foreign (world) languages. For more information about admission pocedure see websites of FTA.

The early contact (during December or January, this means about 5 to 6 month prior the submition of application form) will ensure you the proper topic of your future PhD thesis.
