Rules for Recognizing Previously Completed Credits and Exams

Did you know that ... > Rules for Recognizing Previously Completed Credits and Exams

Credits and exams are recognized during the first two weeks of the semester.

Subjects that have already been recognized once, as well as subjects for which the student has already obtained an academic degree, or subjects from another active/interrupted study that the student can still successfully complete, are not recognized. Subjects completed within the bachelor’s degree cannot be recognized in the master’s degree.

It is preferred to submit the application through the contact center in UIS (hereinafter referred to as KC).

  1. Closed subjects that the student studied within CZU, and for which the exam/credit date is not older than 5 years, are recognized based on an electronic application in KC UIS. Exceptions are credits from BP/DP, which must be obtained in the new study, and also the credit from the Introduction to Study, which is older than one year or comes from another faculty. The student only lists the subjects for which they are requesting recognition in the application, no further documentation is needed.

  2. Closed subjects that the student obtained outside of CZU, and for which the exam/credit date is not older than 5 years, can be recognized only up to a maximum of 1 subject per semester, both at the bachelor’s and master’s level. The student submits the application through KC in UIS with all the necessary documents for recognition (confirmed syllabus of the subject, confirmed transcript of grades) to the study department. If the application has all the prescribed requirements, the study officer forwards it again through KC to the subject guarantor. The guarantor promptly sends back their recommendation, and the officer enters the result of the positive decision into UIS. In case of disagreement with the recognition, the student is informed by a message in KC. The guarantor’s negative decision is final. If the student simultaneously requests recognition of multiple subjects from the given semester, the first recommended subject is entered into UIS as recognized, and the other requests are disregarded.

  3. A request for recognition of a credit from an unclosed subject that the student studied within CZU (repeating a year, transferring a subject) can only be made if it is not older than one year. The student submits the request to the secretariat (email is sufficient). In case of a positive opinion, the credit is entered into UIS with the current date. The organization of recognizing these credits is fully within the competence of the relevant department.

A credit from an unclosed subject that the student obtained outside of CZU is not recognized.
