The staff of the department solves and guarantees the introduction of modern innovations in agricultural enterprises in the field of cattle, sheep, pigs, various species of poultry and rabbits.
In the field of research, they focus on the following issues:
- milk quality, health and welfare of dairy cows in intensive cattle farming,
- optimizing livestock reproduction management,
- economic evaluation of zootechnical measures in dairy cattle, beef cattle and pigs,
- study of candidate genes affecting the reproductive and production performance of livestock,
- occurrence of boar taint,
- ways to eliminate it and to optimize breeding and housing conditions in terms of welfare in livestock.
The members of the department regularly organize conferences, seminars and professional trainings for the breeding public and work closely with breeders' associations of individual species of livestock.
