MS2 Magnetic Susceptibility System (Bartington Instruments, UK)

Přístrojové vybavení katedry > MS2 Magnetic Susceptibility System (Bartington Instruments, UK)

The MS2 Magnetic Susceptibility System (Bartington Instruments) is a portable instrument used to measure magnetic susceptibility. Various type of probes can be connect with MS2 system for measuring in the laboratory and in the field. The department has a laboratory sensor MS2B. This sensor is primarily used to measure the magnetic susceptibility of soil, rock and sediment samples, and is widely recognised as a standard instrument in the characterisation of the magnetic properties of soil. The dual frequency (0,47 a 4,7 kHz) facility permits identification of superparamagnetic grains, which helps characterise the processes that affect the sample. It is also suitable for susceptibility measurements of fluids, and micro/nano particles. Furthermore, the MS2 system can be connected with MS2D probe (rapid assessment of the content of magnetic materials in the top 100 mm of the land surface) and with MS2F probe (miniature probe is ideal for the stratigraphic study of exposed geological and archaeological sections.
