Magnetic coils

Gallery > Magnetoreception > Magnetic coils

Our larger magnetic coil is a cube, composed of 4 beams in each direction (x, y, z). It has a total of 12 beams and several kilometers of copper wires that change the electromagnetic field inside the coil. It is located inside a house in Kostelec nad Černými Lesy, and its dimensions are 4 m x 4 m x 4 m. It is the largest electromagnetic coil (for biological research) in Europe.

Other magnetic coils are located in the most expensive room at the ČZU. There are two state-of-the-art electromagnetic coils and breeding rooms for experimental animals. We performed the first experiments in electromagnetic coils at FLD with carps in a coil measuring 85 cm x 85 cm x 85 cm.
