Game mortality on the roads

Gallery > Spatial activity of game > Game mortality on the roads

With the help of the GPS collars of marked individuals, we can monitor game behaviour in detail. In this case, we mainly watch where and when the marked wild boar cross a road. Based on that, we gradually place various measures here (odor repellents, reflectors, or acoustic scarers) to verify their functionality and effectiveness. At the same time, we install radars at these sites by the roads to provide us with information on traffic intensity and the speed of passing vehicles. In this way, we can obtain comprehensive knowledge in the model sections about what wild animals do around roads, whether they cross them, whether they react to various installed measures, and at the same time, what cars "do" here. In this research, we see the potential for society. Unfortunately, collisions with game are occurring more and more often on the roads, and we hope that these activities will help reduce the high number of accidents. We will verify which measures it is crucial to install and in which situations in order tool protect the game as well as people and their property.
