As part of a one-month doctoral internship, a student went to the Scottish Highlands to see the black grouse, the numbers of which are critically declining in the Czech Republic. The goal was to record this species during the spring flow. The main acoustic manifestations of the black grouse are bubbling, similar to the growling of a dove, and squeaking, a hissing non-vocal sound. If information bearing the identity of an individual is found in these manifestations, it could be assumed that the monitoring of this timid species could be based on sound recordings in the future.
